UPDATES
Property tariff page

We have now added a tariff page for each of your properties. Links to these can be found under “Admin > Integration HTML”. The “Dynamic tariff page” links are right at the bottom.

Automatic logout timer

As part of our overall security review we have added automatic logout to the system. This can be configured for each user under “Admin > Login users”. The default timeout is set to one hour.


Change your password reminders

The Payment Card Industry Security Standards recommend that you change your password every 90 days. SuperControl will now remind you to do this every 90 days. Changing isn’t compulsory but we highly recommend that you do.


Enhanced database backups

Database backups are taken every 30 minutes. We now store these in two separate secure locations, one in the UK and one in the USA.


Premier Cottages integration

We have successfully integrated SuperControl with the Premier Cottages availability system. Premier Cottages is a collection of over 880 four and five star properties throughout the UK. Pricing and booking details can be automatically synchronised with www.premiercottages.co.uk

Security audit and hacker testing


System securityWe have recently commissioned a specialist company, Systems Security Services, (S3) to carry out a complete security audit of all our security systems and policies. S3 have been specialising in information security testing and consultation for 12 years and have a worldwide client-base of over 500 including US federal and state government agencies. S3 is registered under the FBI InfraGard scheme as well as being well known and highly respected in the online security world.


Testing process

They will perform an extensive review of all security aspects of the SuperControl system. This will include “hacker testing” where S3 will replicate the most sophisticated hacking methods to penetrate our server and database. This testing uses a combination of automated tools as well as manual testing using highly expert technicians. Note that, although our systems are being tested, no sensitive client data will be exposed at any time. The testing will take place over the next 6-8 weeks.


All of this is in addition to our existing security measures, which include a weekly scan of our server testing for over 65,000 possible vulnerabilities.

New “verified secure” logos


verified secureWe have designed logos which you can place on your website. The logo links to a personalised security certificate designed to give your customers confidence that they can safely book online. They are available in a range of colours to suit every style of website. You can find the logos in your SuperControl account under “Admin > Verified secure logos”.


Impact of the economic climate


Our overall booking figures show a mixed message for the year ahead. Forward bookings seem to be holding up well, but we are slightly concerned about the number of new bookings coming in.


This time last year our overall client base was showing 11.4% occupancy for the year ahead. Today this figure is 15.7% for the same cross-section of clients. That said, there was a 30% decrease in the number of new bookings being made in November and the figures for December look similar.
