Making sure that emails are delivered

Making sure that emails get through spam filters can be a bit of a black art. We have recently put a log of work into improving the deliverability of crucial emails that are sent from SuperControl.

Because email correspondence is critical to the day-to-day operation of our clients we wanted to find a specialist service to help get this right. After a considerable amount of research we decided to use www.emailreach.com. This service lets us test our system against a huge range of popular email providers and spam filters.

We are now regularly testing our system through Email Reach. This allows us to do a whole range of detailed tests, including:

• Checking deliverability against dozens of email providers
• Detailed results from lots of spam filters
• Assessing email content for spam-like characteristics
• Server reputation check - testing against blacklists

We have made dozens of minor upgrades to the system following these tests. Because spam filters change regularly we have introduced an ongoing program of testing.
