It seems the days of an awards season are gone, with examples of self-catering excellence being applauded pretty much throughout the year.
Here is our mid-year accolade to the SuperControl superstars who have achieved recognition from the industry in 2016 so far. Congratulations to you all, and good luck to those of you who have (or will) enter the forthcoming events that are happening throughout the rest of the year. Do keep us posted!
Northern Ireland Tourism Awards
Derry was the destination this month for the Northern Ireland Tourism Awards ceremony. We were delighted to see that Ballylinny Holiday Cottages were Commended in the Non Serviced Accommodation category.
VisitEngland Awards for Excellence
In March, the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence were held in Blackpool and it was fantastic to see five SuperControl owners receiving awards in four different categories; illustrating the diversity of self-catering accommodation that is available.
In the Self-catering Holiday Provider of the Year category Treworgey Cottages won Gold and both The Dandelion Hideaway and The Dovecote Barns were Highly Commended.
It was double celebrations for Hoe Grange Holidays who won Gold in the Access for All Tourism Award and Silver in the Sustainable Tourism Award.
And congratulations also go to Higher Wiscombe on winning the Gold award for Dog Friendly Business.
Remarkable East Yorkshire Tourism Awards
March was also the month the results of the Remarkable East Yorkshire Tourism Awards 2016 were announced at a sparkling ceremony in Bridlington. Congratulations go to Broadgate Farm Cottages, who won Remarkable Self-catering and Field House Farm Cottages who were a finalist in the same category.
Carmarthenshire Tourism Awards
We missed this one in the last round-up we published in December (sorry!), the Carmarthenshire Tourism Awards were held back in November in Llanelli. So, belated congratulations go to Godremamog Mill, Cwmcrwth Farm & Holiday Cottages and Pen Y Garn who won Gold, Silver and Bronze respectively for the Self-Catering Property of the Year, with a double pat on the pack to Cwmcrwth Farm & Holiday Cottages and Godremamog who were also awarded Silver and Bronze Most Effective Marketing Award.
And extra thanks go to Samantha and Chris from Godremamog for your lovely feedback too:
“We were very proud to win the Gold Award for best self-catering accommodation at the Carmarthenshire Tourism Awards in November and your system was a big part of that, so thank you.”
Coming up …
At the time of publishing, there are a few more award announcements on the horizon.
Good luck to Mill House Cottages and Beech House Holidays who have been announced as finalists in the Cumbria Tourism Awards, which are being held at Grange-over-Sands in June.
And the winners of the European Holiday Home Association’s Best Holiday Home in Europe Award 2016 will also be announced next month.
If you have won an award this year and we haven’t given you a mention, or if you win one in the coming months, please let us know.
